ATP Regulation for Perishable Food Transport

The ATP, “Accord Transport Perissable”, signed in Geneva in 1970, is the regulation for refrigerated refrigerated transport at controlled temperatures of perishable goods.

Specifically, the ATP Regulation:

• imposes certain rules in the construction of isothermal equipment for refrigerated refrigerated transport;
• imposes certain prescriptions for users;
• prescribes the types of perishable foods to be transported under a controlled temperature regime and the temperatures at which refrigerated and refrigerated transport must be carried out. These limits are in line with those set by the Ministry of Health (D.P.R. n ° 327/1980 and D.M. 12.10.81)

Most common classifications of ATP means of transport

The A.T.P. classification, for vehicles used for the transport of perishable goods, is based on specific mathematical relationships that correlate the thermal insulation coefficient of the insulated structure with the power of the refrigeration system used for maintaining low temperatures.

CSI technicians carry out the tests to verify the tightness of the isothermal cell (determination of the thermal transmission coefficient "K") by inserting the vehicle in a suitably equipped room (tunnel) in which it is possible to monitor the internal temperatures of the cell with respect to those of the test room which must respect precise parameters.

Issue of ATP certificates

On the basis of the results obtained, the CSI technicians prepare the test reports which will be sent to the competent MCTCs for the territory based on the residence of the vehicle owner as shown in the Traffic Card. The competent MCTCs will then issue the new ATP Certificates.

These tests can be carried out if the conditions set out in the Circular of the Ministry of Transport are present and can be downloaded from this page.

Duration ATP Certificate

From the date of the first issue, the A.T.P. it is valid for 6 years.

In the 6th year, the renewal of the ATP can be carried out:

• by the Test Centers (ATP Experts) for another 3 years;
• from the Test Stations (such as CSI) for another 6 years.

In the 9th year, the renewal of the ATP can be carried out:

• by the Test Centers (ATP Experts) for another 3 years

Note: ATP Experts can only renew for vehicles used for the transport of fresh products, class FNA, RND, etc .; ATP Experts cannot carry out renewals to the 9th year of vehicles used for the transport of frozen products, class FRC, RRC, etc.

• from the Test Stations (such as CSI) for another 6 years (both for vehicles used for the transport of fresh and frozen products).

At the 12th year, the renewal of the ATP can be carried out:

• only from Test Stations (such as CSI) for another 6 years.

Please note that the starting date of the renewal validity of the ATP certificates is:

• from the expiry date of the previous ATP for the tests carried out at the testing centers (ATP experts);
• from the date of the test for tests carried out at test stations (such as CSI). (for two or more vehicles)

Advantages

The service offered by CSI offers several advantages:

• Efficiency and speed in carrying out ATP tests

The ATP tests normally follow the following procedure:

for refrigerated vehicles

• IN, FNA, etc..: starting at 07:30, ending at 15:00 in the afternoon;
• IR, FRC, etc..: start at 15:00, end at 07:30 the next morning.

for refrigerated vehicles

• RRC, etc..: starting at 10:00 on Friday morning, ending at 08:00 on the following Monday morning

Note: the scheduled times have been studied paying particular attention to the customer's needs to minimize the vehicle's inactivity time and, for RRC vehicles, taking advantage of weekend days, which are normally not working days.

Attentions that require a particular organization, "calibrated" on the needs of the customer but which translate into significant economic savings for the user of the vehicle.

Availability and punctuality in carrying out inspections of vehicles to be group tested. The CSI technician is always available to go to the various customer branches for the necessary checks, agreeing on the most convenient dates and times for him. Also, in this case, the cost savings for the customer (who will not have to stop the vehicle during work) is evident.

Book your ATP Certificate test

For the renewal of the ATP certificate it is necessary to provide:

1. test application on headed paper showing all the personal and fiscal data of the person requesting the ATP test;
2. original of the expiring ATP certificate (if the report is lost with a possible copy of the ATP);
3. copy of the registration certificate.

We also remind you that:

• APPROVED refrigeration units (without an identification plate) a new plate must be requested from the manufacturer together with a certificate of origin or a duplicate of the group's declaration of conformity. The test stations must verify the correct mounting of the plate;
• NON-APPROVED refrigeration units or without an approval number plate, the efficiency test must be carried out.

Note.: the vehicles forming part of the "group test" without the cell manufacturer's homologation plate must necessarily be subjected to the test as "ONLY one".
