CSI : Food, Packaging & Materials Division

CSI S.p.A. is active since some decades in the material testing sector.
Leading actors of this activity are packages of all compositions (polymers, paper, metals, wood, glass, regenerated cellulose, rubber, etc.), particularly packages for foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
FPM Division has constantly implemented a high specialization and competence in the sector, so becoming a focal point for food, cosmetic and pharmaceuticals industries, for packaging industries, for organized Large-scale retail trade, etc.
Having enlarged its activity with Shelf Life studies and food analysis, its expects to be an unique partner able to globally fulfil the requirements of the relevant industry

In the following, some testing activities of this area are listed :

Compositive compliance of materials with the positive lists (monomers and additives) according to european (2002/72/CE, 2004/19/CE and CE Regulation no. 1935/2004) and american FDA legislation
Global migration in different simulants (national and european legislations)
Specific migrations of monomers, additives, metals, diestuffs, according to european legislations (2002/72/CE and 2004/19/CE)
Test according to FDA CFR Title 21 - Food and Drugs Administration
Sensorial tests (Robinson test, UNI 10192-00, DIN 10955, etc.)
Permeability to gases and vapours (water, aromas, pllutants, solvents)
Directive 94/62/CE for heavy metals determination in packagings, RoHS Directives 2002/95/CE, 2002/96/CE e 2003/108/CE and others included in the Green Program for electric materials .
Compositive analyses for tenders control
Tests according to european and american pharmacopoeia
Classification for the energy recover in the package disposal, their biodegradability and biocompostability.

FPM Division and its technical staff offers not only laboratory services, but also legislative consultancy, assistance, procedures development in order to find out adequate solutions to the problems.
Besides testing, CSI’s competence is placed at disposal of the Companies operating in the following sectors:
