In the following, the steps towards the certification will be described; the first one is optional and it is performed upon Company request. The remaining ones are mandatory in order to issue and maintain the conformity certificate.
1. Check up visit
Before starting with the certification procedure, it is often useful to perform a preliminary visit which evaluates the management system and allows to individuate size and nature of the activities and the type of experience that the evaluation team must have.
2. Application for certification
In order to start the certification route and acquire the information relevant to the Company processes, useful for the planning of the subsequent verification activities, the application form and the management system documentation (the Manual and, if necessary, the procedures) have to be sent.
3. Certification / Initial evaluation visit
The evaluation comprises an in-depth verification at the organization of the system conformity with the reference norm requirements. At this point the organization shall demonstrate the practical application of the procedures to the evaluation team which shall comprise also an expert evaluator in the specific technological sector. At the end of the evaluation the team shall present the results to the Board of Directors, subsequently, should the visit results disclose non conformity or remarks, a plan of corrective actions to comply with the requirements for the issue of the conformity certificate will be asked. After having overcome all non-conformities, the certification will be granted, the organization will be listed among the certified ones and the relevant certificate will be issued.
4. Maintaining of the Certification
The surveillance visits will take place after the issue of the certificate. In order to maintain the certification, CSICERT will perform at least one surveillance visit per year. The frequency of the visits can vary according to results of the preceding visits; in case of severe deviations from the norm requirements, it will be necessary to perform additional surveillance visits.
5. Renewal of the Certification
The certification remains in force for 3 (three) years; at the end of this period the certificate is automatically renewed after an evaluation visit. The certificates after the first one remain in force for 3 (three) years.
